For the second-straight time and a third time this season, the Trigg County girls soccer team were tipped by a single goal in a 3-2 loss Tuesday night at Mayfield. The Lady Wildcats drop their third in a row to slip below .500 at 4-5 overall, with an important 5th-District match-up with Lyon County coming up on Thursday.
Ashlee Wyatt got the Lady Wildcats in front just five minutes in when she converted off an assist from Kara Southwood. The Lady Cardinals responded with a breakaway goal, before Wyatt restored the one-goal advantage when she scored with help from DeDe Barbee for a 2-1 halftime advantage.
However, the Lady Wildcats would find themselves shutout in the second half, with Mayfield earning the 3-2 win on the strength of a couple of free kick goals. Trigg goalkeeper Mackenzie Young conceded two of the goals, with Sarah Sink being beaten for the other.
