Henderson County scored just 2:25 into the contest and added another goal in the 12th minute on the way to a 3-0 win over Caldwell County in the 2nd Region soccer tournament on Monday.
The Lady Colonels (12-6-4) got two goals from Maggie Sauer while advancing to Wednesday’s semifinals at the Stadium of Champions in Hopkinsville.
Caitlyn Honeycutt got Henderson the scoreboard in the 3rd minute when she scored in front of the net off a corner kick.
Sauer got her first goal in the 12th minute to make it 2-0.
Meanwhile, Henderson limited Caldwell’s chances at the other end.
Sauer tallied her second goal in the 43rd minute to make it 3-0.
The Lady Colonels also defeated the Lady Tigers 3-0 early in the season in Henderson.
Caldwell ends the year with a record of 12-8-2.
Henderson has won its last 14 meetings against Caldwell. The Lady Tigers’ last victory over the Lady Colonels was a 2-0 decision in the 2010 season.
