Heritage Christian Academy picked up their first two wins of the girls’ basketball season over the weekend at the KCAA Holiday Classic on Louisville.
HCA dropped their opener in the tournament Friday to North Hardin Christian 42-20 as 30 turnovers were the undoing of the Lady Warriors. HCA didn’t reach double digits in any of the four quarters.
Abbi Bullock led HCA in scoring with eight points, with Kinley Deason adding six points. Hallie Zieg pulled down seven rebounds.
On Saturday, HCA got balanced scoring to beat AIE 35-28. Deason scored 10 points, and Meredith Crunk added nine points. Bullock had eight points and five steals for the Lady Warrior effort.
HCA won the fifth place game with a decisive 60-29 win over Somerset Christian Academy. HCA jumped out to a 16-7 lead in the first quarter and extended it to 28-14 by halftime.
Deason led all scorers with 25 points and six steals and was named to the All-Tournament Team. Ashton Craft added 13 points, and Hallie Zieg scored seven points. Logan Gibson scored six points and pulled down six rebounds.
HCA (2-5) returns to action Monday when they host South Haven, Tenn.
