Trigg County will again host the KME Christmas Classic Friday and Saturday at Wildcat Gym.  The event will be a four-team tournament that begins Friday night.

Graves County will play St. Mary in the 6pm opener, with Trigg County playing Hancock County at 7:30.

Wildcat coach Chad Burgett said the tournament had six teams when he was named head coach in the spring.  The tourney has been a six-team tourney for the previous three years, but Burgett said two schools dropped out over the summer.  He expects next year’s tournament to return to six schools and possibly eight.

Trigg County (3-3) will look to end a two-game losing streak when they host Hancock County.  The Hornets are 1-5 and have failed to reach 50 points in their first six games.  Trigg and Hancock have played one common opponent.  The Wildcats lost to Daviess County 65-53 on Dec. 7, while Hancock lost to the Panthers 61-46 on Tuesday.

It will be the second meeting between Trigg and Hancock County in basketball.  Trigg won 58-48 in a 2000 tournament at Ohio County.

The 6pm game features Graves County (2-5) and defending KME Classic runner-up St. Mary (5-2).  It will be the first meeting between the First Region schools since the end of the 2015-16 season.

Friday’s losing teams will meet in the consolation game Saturday at 6pm.  The Friday winners will meet in the championship game at 7:30pm.
