The Hopkinsville Lady Tigers used stifling second half defense Friday night to pick up their second straight win. Hoptown limited Owensboro to just four points in the third quarter as they rolled to a 58-36 win at Tiger Gym.
Donisha Flowers and Jakayla Epps got things going early for the Lady Tigers. The duo combined to score 15 of Hopkinsville’s 17 first quarter points as the Lady Tigers took the early 17-11 lead.
Flowers continued to be a problem for the Lady Red Devils in the second quarter, as she added six more points to her total. Hopkinsville continued to limit Owensboro’s scoring opportunities, as the Lady Tigers pulled out to a 32-22 halftime lead.
The Lady Tigers delivered the knockout blow in the third quarter. Hopkinsville’s defense held Owensboro to just two field goals, as the Lady Tigers ran out to a 47-26 lead after three quarters.
While not as smothering, the Lady Tiger defense was still solid in the final quarter, as the Lady Red Devils could only manage ten points. Hopkinsville cruised on out to the final 22 point margin.
A big night for Donisha Flowers with 19 points. Jakayla Epps finished the game with 14. Lakayla Samuel was the other Lady Tiger to reach double figures with 11.
No Lady Red Devil reached double figures on the night. Krystell Pappas was the top scorer with eight points.
Hopkinsville improves their record on the season to 4-3 with the win.
