Lyon County started strong and finished strong as they defeated Community Christian 62-31 Friday to move into the championship game of the Lady Warrior Classic in Paducah.
The Lady Lyons jumped out to a 17-1 lead as Rose Smith had 11 of the Lyon points. CCA would find their offense in the second quarter and chipped away at the deficit. They outscored Lyon 14-13 in the quarter to pull to within 30-17 by halftime.
The host school continued to draw closer, getting to within 38-26 after three quarters. However, the Lady Lyons kicked into another gear and began the fourth quarter on a 19-2 run to essentially end the game.
Smith finished with 21 points and three steals. Gracen Wynn knocked down four 3-pointers to finish with 12 points and six rebounds.
Natalie Rottman led CCA (3-6) with 18 points.
Lyon County (5-6) has won four straight games and will play Trigg County in Saturday’s championship game of the Lady Warrior Classic at 7:30. The game will not affect the district standings.
