The Madisonville-North Hopkins Lady Maroons continue to build their resume as one of the best girls teams in Western Kentucky. After trailing by five points at the half, the Lady Maroons rallied to pick up their 13th win in a row, blowing past McCracken County 48-37 in the McCracken County Mustang Madness.

The 37 point total for the Lady Mustangs was the 8th time in their 13 wins that the Lady Maroons have held an opponent to less than 40 points in a game.

Early on, it looked like Madisonville might be in danger of losing for the first time this season. McCracken County would hold a five point lead at the end of the first half 25-20.

Madisonville would battle back at the beginning of the second half. The Lady Maroons opened on a 6-0 run to take a 26-25 lead. At the end of the quarter, the Lady Mustangs would be back in front, but the lead would only be two points at 33-31.

It was at that point, the Lady Maroon defense, which has been big and bad all season, put the clamps on McCracken County. Madisonville ended the game on a 17-4 run with Courtney Peyton scoring nine points in the fourth quarter.

Courtney Peyton was named the Player of the Game, finishing with a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds. Sophomore point guard Camryn LaGrange ended the night with 18 points and 8 rebounds. Additionally, LaGrange became the 21st Lady Maroon to score 1,000 points in her career.  Her last bucket of the game gave her 1,000 points on the nose.  Peyton hit the 1,000-point mark last year.

McCracken County limited Lindsey Peyton to just four points on the night.

Freshman Destiny Thomas, who transferred to McCracken County from Paducah Tilghman before the season, led the Lady Mustangs with 14 points and 13 rebounds.

The Lady Maroons improve to 13-0 on the season, and will return to action January 7, when they host the Hopkinsville Lady Tigers.
