After dropping their last six meetings with Logan County, the Todd County Central girls’ basketball team will be hoping to put an end to that slide when it faces off with the Lady Cougars on Monday in the opening round of the 13th-District tournament at Russellville.
The 4th-seeded Lady Rebels lost both regular-season meetings with top-seeded Logan County, losing by an average of 31 points. Todd County last won the district title in the 2012/13 season, while the reigning champion Lady Cougars have won five of the last six. Todd County finished the regular season at 3-23, 0-6 against district competiton, Logan County going unbeaten against 13th-District teams, with an overall mark of 13-16.
In the other semifinal, Russellville and Franklin-Simpson meet in the 2/3 match-up, with the teams splitting their games in the regular season. Franklin-Simpson finished 11-17 on the year, with an even 3-3 district mark, while Russellville was the lone team in the district with a winning record at 18-10.
The Lady Panthers lost in last season’s title game and haven’t brought home a district championship in over a decade. The Lady Wildcats’ last appearance in the title game was 2016/17, when they knocked off Russellville to claim the trophy.
