Summer usually sees Lyon County sophomore Cathryn Brown splitting time between the golf course and the basketball court. However, with COVID-1 shutting down gymnasiums until further notice, Brown says she is focusing on golf until the gyms open where she can work on her hoop skills.
Brown is off to a solid start on the summer junior golf circuit. She finished third Thursday at the Bluegrass Junior Golf Tour stop at the Calvert City Country Club, which is also the site for this fall’s region tournament. She shot an 8-over 80 with one birdie and nine bogeys.
Last week, Brown finished fourth in the Hurricane Junior Golf Tour stop at Weissinger Hills Golf Course in Shelbyville. Her first round score of 73 had her in second place before she finished in fourth place.
