Conditioning will be a priority for the Fort Campbell boys’ soccer team as they move towards the potential start of the 2020 high school season. That the word from Coach David Watson in a statement to YourSportsEdge.Com after the DoDEA announced Friday morning preliminary steps towards the resumption of high school sports at the school on the military installation that sits on the Kentucky-Tennessee state line.

Watson stated “we are going to take it slow at first and get conditioning going.” He added that since he was unsure of the fitness level the athletes will be in, he would like to ease them back into the swing of things. Watson went on to note that “once fitness levels get up then we will grind it out to get caught up.”

As for the current situation surrounding COVID-19, Watson states they are “taking every precaution we can with the covid pandemic still going on and taking the health of our athletes very seriously. We probably will not even see a ball until next month in Phase 3 of the reopening.”

Watson is in his first season as the boys’ soccer coach at Fort Campbell.
