Emma Talley has a lengthy list of accomplishments in her golf career, both as an amateur and a professional.
Next month, she adds another first to her resume.
Talley will play in the Irvin Cobb Golf Championships July 18-19 at Paxton Park in Paducah.
WPSD-TV Channel 6 first reported the news on Monday. According to Jeff Bidwell of WPSD, Talley is believed to be the first female to ever play in the Irvin Cobb Championships.
That event dates back to 1937.
Talley has had an eye on the Irvin Cobb Championships in the past, but could never fit the event into her schedule.
With the COVID-19 crisis sidelining the LPGA Tour, Talley was able to commit to the Paducah tournament this summer.
Meanwhile, the LPGA is on its longest hiatus in its 70 year history.
The tour hopes to return to action July 23-26 at the Marathon Classic presented by Dana. That event is played annually at Highland Meadows Golf Club in Sylvania, Ohio, near Toledo.
Talley played well at the Marathon Classic last year. She fired a 9-under-par 275 and finished in a tie for 11th place. That earned her $26,717.
The LPGA has postponed or canceled near two dozen tournaments because of concerns over the coronavirus. The last tournament conducted was the Women’s Australian Open in February.
