Prospects 16U Go 3-0 in Pool Play at Pastime National Championships

Another solid week of baseball this week so far for the Kentucky Prospects 16U team. The Prospects went 3-0 from Wednesday through Friday to clinch their pool in the 16U Pastime National Championships in Louisville.

Wednesday afternoon, the Prospects used a four run 5th inning to take the lead and then held on for a 4-3 win over Indiana Astros 16U.

Caldwell County’s Logan Smiley had a big day, going 2-3, with a run scored and an RBI. Gunnar Bingham finished 1-2, with a walk and a run scored.

On the mound, Lyon County’s Jackson Shoulders started and went three innings, giving up no runs on just two hits. He struck out two and walked one.

Thursday, the Prospects 16U picked up their second win of the week, taking down Legacy Shields 16U 4-2. The Prospects started off fast, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first to take a lead they would never give up.

Logan Smiley was 1-3, with a triple and an RBI. Hopkinsville’s Jacob Dilday finished 1-1, with a single and a walk.

The Prospects closed out pool play Friday with a 4-0 win over Knights North – Bell 16U.

Logan Smiley was 0-2, but had a walk and scored a run.

Bracket play in the event will start Saturday.
