A pair of Trigg County fishermen are headed off to a state championship event next week. Hunter Shelton and Jordan Hampton qualified for the Kentucky BASS Nation State Championship, and will be traveling to Nolan Lake for the event, which will take place August 8 – 9.
The pair will compete against 29 other teams for scholarship money and other prizes. The duo is the first team from Trigg County High School to qualify for the tournament.
An effort is now underway to help raise money to offset the expense of making the trip, as Shelton, Hampton, and their boat captain will be leaving early next week for 3 days of practice on the lake and then compete for 2 more days. Total expenses for trip are estimated to be in the $1,500 range.
