The Hopkinsville girls’ golf team opened its 2020 season with an eighth-place finish Tuesday at their own Lady Tiger Invitational at the Hopkinsville Country Club.
Eighth-grader Cate Blane started strong and finished 11th with a round of 80. She birdied the par-3 second hole and finished the front nine with a 2-over 37. She birdied 10, but a pair of double-bogeys saw her come in with a 43.
Anna Fort shot a 44 on the front nine as part of a round of 92 that saw her finish 32nd. Anna Blane shot a 104 to finish in 50th, and Audrey Rains shot a 112 to finish in 62nd.
Marshall County’s Savannah Howell shot a 2-under 69 to edge teammate Trinity Beth and South Warren’s Faith Martin to claim the individual title.
The Lady Marshals won the team title with South Warren second with 316. Hopkinsville was eighth with 388 points.
