Jackson Hill was just two shots behind medalist Jay Nimmo of Marshall County Saturday at the Hopkins Central Invitational at Madisonville Country Club.
The Madisonville-North Hopkins golfer shot a 34 on the front nine and a 36 on the back for his 1-under-par round of 70.
Nimmo won the event with a 68. Paducah St. Mary’s Rocco Zakutney was runner-up with a 69.
Jakob Wellman of Owensboro Catholic tied Hill for third place.
The Maroons also got a 74 from Aaron Munger, who shot 37 on each side.
Andrew Davis and Paul Harris each carded 90s while J.T. Witherspoon totaled a 94.
That gave Madisonville a team score of 324.
The Maroons also entered a ‘B’ team in the event.
G. Pool led that squad with a 99. M. Clayton shot 100, R. Sandidge 111 and G. Sheets 116.
The Madisonville ‘B’ team had a score of 426.
Marshall County won the team competition with a 297 while St. Mary was runner-up with a 300.
