Calloway County Football Shuts Down for Two Weeks

On the Monday after a big win against a district rival, one area football team has seen its season come to a pause due to COVID-19 implications. Calloway County officials announced via social media Monday morning that the Lakers’ varsity football team, including players and managers, had been placed in quarantine.

School officials note that the quarantine will last for 14 days, and during that time period, there will be no games, practice, or participation for the players in the program.

The 14 day period officially goes back to September 25th, which was the day that that Lakers upended the Hopkinsville Tigers 14-7.

As of this time, there has been no statement from officials at Hopkinsville, however one is expected at some point.

With the shutdown for the Lakers, their crosstown battle against Murray for this Friday. has been at least postponed, if not canceled.
