Former Caldwell County Tiger Derrin Boyd had 26 points and buried six 3-pointers but his Georgetown Tigers fell when host Shawnee State hit a late 3 and beat the Tigers 74-73 Thursday night.
Boyd started and played over 37 minutes. He was 10 of 18 from the field, including 6 of 11 on 3-pointers. He added two rebounds and one assist.
Boyd has now scored more points this season than anyone else on the Georgetown squad. He is averaging 19.0 points a contest.
Georgetown falls to 7-2 on the season.
Boyd and the Georgetown Tigers will go to Thomas More University on Saturday.
