The 2nd Region tournaments will have a different look and feel this season.
Schools officials voted Wednesday morning to play first-round games at four different sites. District winners will host a district runner-up in the first round for both the boys’ and girls’ tournaments.
Semifinal and championship rounds will move to Madisonville-North Hopkins for the guys and Hopkins County Central for the gals.
The 2nd Region volleyball tournament followed a similar format in October.
The boys’ 2nd Region tournament is set to begin Monday, March 22, at the four district champions. Games are slated for 6:30 p.m.
The girls’ first round will be played Tuesday, March 23. Again, games are at 6:30.
The semifinals will be played on separate nights.
The first boys’ semifinal is Wednesday, March 24, with the second semifinal the following night. Those games are also at 6:30.
The first girls’ semifinal is set for Friday, March 26 at 6:30 in Mortons Gap.
Two games will be played on Saturday, March 27. The second girls’ semifinal is set for 2 p.m. at Hopkins County Central. The boys’ championship game is that night at 6:30 at Madisonville-North Hopkins.
The girls’ title tilt is scheduled for Monday, March 29, at 6:30 in Mortons Gap.
The boys’ state tournament is set to begin Wednesday, March 31.
