The Owensboro Lady Red Devils used a big 4th inning to close out a win over University Heights Monday afternoon. The Lady Red Devils scored in each of their four at-bats, capped off with an 8-run 4th inning as they cruised by the Lady Blazers 17-2 in the season opener for both teams.
Owensboro plated four runs in the top of the first to go up 4-0.
The Lady Blazers battled back to get a pair of runs in the bottom of the inning to cut the lead to 4-2. UHA took advantage of two hit batters and an Owensboro error to score the runs.
Owensboro added a run in the second, four more in the third, and then closed out the day with 8 runs in the top of the 4th.
Krista Keller, Amaryia Bass, and J’Reanna McKnight each had a hit for the Lady Blazers, who scored their two runs, on three hits, with six errors in the field.
Mallory Ladd went all four innings in the circle for UHA, giving up 17 runs, ten of them earned, on 12 hits, striking out one, while walking six.
