Greenwood scored in every inning but one and handed Christian County a 10-2 loss Thursday in the baseball season opener for the Colonels.
Christian County scored twice in the first inning without the benefit of a hit. Carter Sholar and Brylle Javier led off the game by reaching on a pair of Gator errors. Sholar scored on a steal of home, and a third Gator error in the inning plated Javier.
Greenwood got a run back in the home half of the first with a steal of home.
In the second, Greenwood added four runs on four walks, two passed balls, and an error. Rhett Dysholm had a two-run hit for the Gators in the inning as well.
Matthew Brown settled down on the mound for the Gators after the rocky start, striking out 16 Colonels and not allowing a hit. He only walked three and was one out shy of a complete game.
Conner Scheer had two of Greenwood’s six hits.
The Colonel defense had five errors in the game that led to three unearned runs.
Christian County will travel to Henderson County Friday.
