Blake Balthrop drove in 3 runs and six other Hopkinsville Tigers had at least 2 RBI each to fuel a 19-0 wipeout of Russell on Tuesday night.  The Tigers have allowed only a single run on the way to a 4-0 record, while the Red Devils drop their second of two games on Tuesday after starting the season 5-0.

Logan Durst picked up his second win of the season on the mound, needing only 48 pitches over three innings.  He yielded only a single hit and struck out 8 with no walks.

The Tigers jumped all over Russell starter Noah Worthington, who didn’t record an out while allowing 7 runs, 6 earned on 3 hits with 3 walks.  Balthrop, Zach Moss, and Jacob Dilday each singled to bring in a run, and Tim Cansler doubled to score a pair for a 7-0 Hoptown lead.

Hoptown doubled the advantage in the 2nd, highlighted by a 2-run double by Preston Chaudoin.  Dilday and Moss each added another RBI single and Durst helped his cause with a base hit to score Chaudoin.

Balthrop capped his night at the plate with a single to score 2 in the 3rd and Landon Snyder got in on the act with an RBI single for the final run of the game.

Ryan Myers led the Tigers with 3 hits, with Chaudoin, Balthrop, Moss, and Dilday each collecting a couple.  Chaudoin, Moss, and Dilday each drove in 2, along with Durst, Cansler, and Joseph Boor.

The Tigers will look to keep their perfect start to the season going when they return to the field on Thursday for a matchup with Lawrence County, before facing off with Greenup County on Friday.
