As the first full week after the dead period winds down, the Todd County Central Rebels headed to Paducah Thursday evening to take part in the annual McCracken County “Small School” 7-on 7 tournament. The Rebels were among 16 teams participating this year.
The Rebels began their evening with a matchup against Marquette (IL). The story of the contest was the Rebel defense, which did not allow a score. Todd Central would win the game 10-4.
The second game of the night saw Todd Central take on Grace Christian Academy (TN). The Rebels got out to the early lead, but then saw their offense lose a little steam in the hot and humid conditions as Grace Christian would come back to take the win.
The final contest for the Rebels in pool play would involve a bit more familiar foe, as the Rebels took on Crittenden County. The Rockets high-octane offense controlled the matchup as Crittenden County would take a 28-16 win, giving the Rebels a 1-2 record in the pool.
It would then be the Rockets who ended the Rebels night on the west side of Paducah, as the two were again matched up in the opening round of bracket play with Crittenden County making it two in a row.
