The Trigg County girls’ soccer team withstood sixteen first-half shots from hosts Calloway County to make it to halftime at 0-0 on Thursday, but the Lady Wildcats’ luck ran out after the break in a 3-0 2A Section 1 semifinal loss.
The Lady Lakers were 7-0 winners over Webster County to reach the semifinal round, while Trigg received a bye to start the tournament.
Despite being doubled-up on shots on goal in the opening half, Trigg goalkeeper Sarah Sink kept it scoreless at the break. The second half would be a different story, as the Lady Lakers made their advantage in chances count with three goals to move on to Saturday’s championship match.
Trigg’s record now stands at 3-3-1 with St. Mary visiting Cadiz on Monday.
