For the first time in over 15 years, Madisonville-North Hopkins has defeated Caldwell County on the volleyball court.
The Lady Maroons ended a long losing streak by claiming a 3-0 decision Tuesday night in Princeton, prevailing 25-22, 25-19, 25-14.
The Lady Tigers’ string of victories in the series ends at 35.
Madisonville’s last win had been a 2-0 win on Sept. 5, 2006.
Caldwell still leads all-time 37-6.
Kaitlyn Orange had 13 kills and 16 digs to lead the Lady Maroons. Kendrea White added eight kills, 15 digs and three aces.
Amya King had 15 assists and 16 digs. Adena Springer and Ellie Hughes had three kills apiece for Madisonville.
Savannah Scott led Caldwell with six kills, a block and two digs. Katie Menser had five kills and three digs while
Adison Sullenger tallied 19 set assists and 11 digs.
Mary Tays had three kills and a team-high 13 digs.
Kynady Thomas had three kills while Brylee Butts had two kills.
Lily Hoard recorded four digs and a kill. Maggy Griggs finished with six digs while Kyndra Winters had five digs.
Caldwell is now 16-14 overall and 3-1 in the district.
Madisonville is 16-8 and 3-1.
