There is a mid-season change in the leadership for the boys basketball program at Heritage Christian Academy. In a email from HCA Headmaster Linda Garris, she stated to the News Edge that head boys basketball coach Daryl Hallmark had resigned as head boys basketball coach at the school. No reason was given in the email in regard’s to Hallmark’s resignation.
Garris also stated that current HCA girls coach Matt McGowan would take over the boys program for the remainder of the season. McGowan will continue in his role as the head girls basetball coach for HCA as well.
In her statement, Garris noted that HCA is “dedicated to their players and making sure they have a great season.”
Hallmark was in his second stint as HCA head coach. The Warriors are 9-10 this year with a roster that has just one senior. They are 1-4 in conference play and 0-2 against region opponents.
Hallmark coached HCA to a 16-2 record in 2011-12. After HCA won a KCAA state title in 2013 with Ricky P’Pool as head coach, Hallmark returned as Warrior coach in 2013-14. HCA has advanced past the first round of the KCAA State Tournament once in the past four seasons.
Hallmark coached 10 seasons at Hopkinsville High from 1982-92, posting a 198-103 record. The 1985 Tigers won the school’s only state basketball championship.
