Fort Campbell still has one wrestler alive at the KHSAA State Wrestling Tournament in Lexington.
Ethan Tomerlin, the No. 10 wrestler in the 170-pound class, was knocked off by No. 7 Jacob Bratcher of Manual in the first round. He battled back to beat Jacob Nicholas of Letcher County Central and No. 20 Jake Stegman of Covington Catholic in the wrestle-backs. He will face No. 24 John Diehl of West Jessamine in his first round match Saturday.
No. 20 Alexei Royar went 1-2 in his three matches in the 113-pound division, falling to No. 11 Austin Hedges of Trinity in the opening round before rebounding to beat Eli Camp of Scott County. Royar was eliminated by No. 8 Morgan Sallee of Danville in the wrestle-backs.
Jesus Avila dropped his opening round match to fourth-ranked Matthew Horn of Johnson Central in the 195-pound class and was eliminated by Desean Stratton of West Jessamine by a 3-0 decision.
In 220-pound class, Justin Wilson dropped his opener to lost to No. 13 Nathan Watson of Scott in the opening round match and was eliminated by Mason Boggs of Lafayette in the second round
In the heavyweight class, Darion Dunn lost his opener to No. 5 Christian Denney of Wayne County and was eliminated by Noah Jewell of Bullitt East.
St. Xavier and defending state champion Union County are tied for first place with 108 points. Christian County is seventh with 64.5 points. Caldwell County is 26th with 27 points, followed by Hopkinsville in 45th place (13); Trigg County in 48th place (11); and Fort Campbell in 56th place (8).
