Emma Talley will celebrate her 24th birthday on the golf course Saturday after making the cut at the LPGA Kia Classic in Carlsbad, CA.
Talley shot a 1-under par 71 Friday after shooting even par in the first round Thursday. Talley’s second round consisted of three birdies and two pars – all on the front nine. She scored nine pars on the back nine. She entered the day tied for 59th place and ended the day in the same position.
She continued her pin-point accuracy off the tee by hitting 12-of-14 fairways and had one fewer putt Friday than during her first round Thursday.
Talley is in a large group at 1-under par that includes Michelle Wie. Cristie Kerr opened up a 5-shot lead on the field Friday by firing an 8-under par 64 that took her to 13-under for the first two rounds.
