Caldwell County (17-3) – The Tigers have won 13 of 14 games heading into this week’s first round game against Somerset at the All-A Classic State Tournament. They are 12-1 against region opposition with their only loss coming in district play to Madisonville.
Henderson County (13-7) – The northern Colonels are 4-1 against region teams – their only loss coming to top-ranked Caldwell County. Henderson County’s bats have warmed up with the weather – they are averaging nearly 14 runs a game over their past six games.
Christian County (10-10) – The southern Colonels have won five of six games, including a win over No. 14 Tates Creek at the Louisville Invitational Tournament. Christian County has games coming up against Henderson County and Pleasure Ridge Park, the No. 1 team in the state.
Madisonville (13-8) – The Maroons are 10-4 against region teams. They snapped a three-game losing streak with wins over Crittenden County and Webster County.
Union County (8-12) – The Braves scored 17 runs in consecutive wins over Christian County and Hopkinsville and have lost seven of eight games since – all eight games have been decided by one run.
Livingston Central (10-5) – The Cardinals have won six of eight games and have positioned themselves well to be the No. 1 seed in the Fifth District Baseball Tournament. They can clinch that outright Thursday when they host Trigg County.
Trigg County (10-8) – The Wildcats have been mercurial this year but enter Thursday’s game with Livingston Central having dropped five of seven games. Trigg is batting just .238 over that time and their pitchers have a 5.06 ERA.
