University Heights Academy beat Christian County 3-0 Thursday and clinched the top seed in next month’s Eighth District Girls’ Soccer Tournament.
The win was UHA’s ninth straight over the Lady Colonels going back six seasons. The three-goal margin was the closest Christian County has been to UHA since 2014.
Ashlyn Parker scored twice and had an assist, and Lilly Strader added a goal an assist. The shutout win was UHA’s first of the season.
Since giving up 10 goals in a season-opening loss to Madisonville, the Christian County defense has allowed just 13 goals in their last 10 matches. The Lady Colonels drop to 6-5 on the season and 1-1 in district play.
UHA improved to 7-2 overall and 2-0 in the district. Even if the Lady Blazers stumble against Fort Campbell in their Sept. 24 matchup, UHA would own the head-to-head tie-breaker against both Hopkinsville and Christian County for the top seed.
Christian County will host Paducah Tilghman Monday, while UHA will entertain Graves County Saturday morning.
