Hopkinsville Calms the Storm to Lock Up #3 Seed

The Hopkinsville Tigers locked up the #3 seed in the district with their second win in a row Friday night. On a rainy night at the Stadium of Champions, the Tigers scored early and often on their way to a 43-0 win over the Hopkins Central Storm.

Late in the first quarter, Jordan Hopson got things going for the Tigers, taking it in from three yards out to put Hopkinsville up 7-0.

Just 30 seconds into the 2nd quarter Ellis Dunn rambled for a 64 yard score. With the two point conversion, Hopkinsville extended the lead to 15-0.

With just under nine minutes to go in the half, Jordan Hopson found the end zone again, this time on a 10 yard run, giving the Tigers a 22-0 lead. Less than a minute after Hopson scored, Jatorion Dillard took it 22 yards to the house. That score pushed the lead out to 29-0 with 7:50 to go in the half.

It took less than two minutes for the Tigers to score again Jordan Hopson’s 3rd touchdown of the first half made it 36-0 Hopkinsville going into the locker room.

With a running clock for the rest of the game, the scoring pace slowed down some. Jatorion Dillard wrapped up the scoring for the night for the Tigers on a four yard run less than two minutes into the second half to push Hopkinsville’s lead out to 43-0.

The win improves Hopkinsville to 3-6 overall and 2-2 in district play. The Tigers will wrap up the regular season next Friday on the road at Greenwood.
