Anglers have options for how they can fish in the Little Pigeon River during the Smallmouth Bass Tournament in Sevierville

Knowing how many smallmouth bass fishermen we have in Kentucky I thought a lot of them might be interested in the Sevierville Chamber of Commerce third annual Smallmouth King Bass Tournament June 5-6 in Sevierville, Tennessee. This two-day event on the Little Pigeon River and its tributaries in Sevierville offers participants a variety of fishing options — kayak, canoe, wading or from the shore.

Sevierville Chamber of Commerce marketing and communication director Amanda Marr noted this will be the area’s first catch-photograph-release event on these world-class bass waters.

“In these waters, smallmouth are king,” tournament director and local fishing guide Greg Ward said. “This tournament has grown in popularity every year because of Sevierville’s world-class smallmouth bass population – and all the things there are to see and do in town.

“Bring the whole family. Those who fish will be amazed. This is truly some of the best river fishing for smallmouth bass in the nation. Non-anglers will enjoy the shopping, restaurants, golf, museums, and theme parks.”

Sevierville believes the fishing tournament allows it to showcase its waterways that locals value year-round.

“Our rivers are probably the best-kept secret in Sevierville,” says Sevierville Chamber of Commerce CEO Brenda McCroskey. “We have large, healthy fish that benefit from protein-rich waters and a longer growing season – plus the views are pretty spectacular. All of that adds up to a fishing experience that’s really enjoyable and makes for a great tournament.”

Registration is open — space is limited — online at www.SmallmouthKing.com. All weigh-ins of smallmouth bass greater than 12 inches in length will be virtual through the tournament app. The two-day total will determine the winners.

As one who enjoys spending all the time I can in the Sevierville-Pigeon Forge area, the tournament will give participants and their families a chance to enjoy attractions such as Soaky Mountain Waterpark, Tanger Outlets, historic shops in downtown Sevierville and so many great and unique spots to eat.
