The University Heights Academy baseball team advanced to the second round of the 2nd-Region All-A tournament with a 4-0 win over Livingston Central on Monday night, behind a commanding complete-game performance from Blazers’ pitcher Luke Welch.
Welch limited the Cardinals to two first-inning singles, while striking out 10 to send the Blazers into a second-round match-up with Fort Campbell on Tuesday at Crittenden County.
Afterward, Welch talked about his stuff on the mound on Monday night, and how the Blazers’ recent spring break trip helped to draw the team closer together.
