Lyon County made four trips to Marion this week. The Lyons left with four wins.
After picking up three victories in the 2nd Region All A Classic, Lyon returned to Marion on Friday for a 5th District makeup date against Crittenden County.
The Lyons (10-5 overall, 2-0 district) rode the complete-game pitching performance of Travis Yancy to a 9-1 victory over the Rockets.
Yancy allowed just one earned run on six hits while striking out 10 and walking two.
Brody Williams singled home a run in the top of the second to put Lyon up 1-0.
A three-run third then proved to be more than enough offense for Yancy.
Gunnar Bingham tripled home the second run of the game. Board then singled in Bingham to make it 3-0. Board later came in on the back end of a double steal to stake Lyon to a 4-0 lead.
Crittenden (5-6, 0-3) got its only run in the bottom of the third on an infield RBI single by Caden McCalister.
Lyon tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth when Bingham singling home another run in that frame. That pushed Lyon’s advantage to 7-1.
Yancy had a sacrifice fly to center as the Lyons put up two more runs in the seventh to make it 9-1.
Bingham was 2-for-4 and drove in two runs while Board was 2-for-3 with an RBI and scored twice. Williams and Jackson Shoulders each went 2-for-4 for the Lyons, who have won their last six games overall.
McCalister finished 2-for-3 to lead the Rockets.
