Heritage Christian Academy picked up their first win of the basketball season Friday with a 58-52 win over Clarksville Christian in the first round of the Knights Christmas Classic at Lancaster Christian school in Smyrna, Tenn.
The teams played two halves instead of four quarters, with the Warriors staking a 36-28 halftime lead. HCA was able to hold off Clarksville Christian down the stretch for the win.
The inside duo of Weston Powell and Derek Wadlington proved to be too much for the opposition. Powell led HCA with 22 points and eight rebounds, with Derek adding 18 points and eight rebounds.
Elijah Britton had seven points and seven assists, and David Crunk came off the bench to score four points and grab a team-high 11 rebounds.
In the second game of the tournament, the Warriors ran into one of Middle Tennessee’s top home-school teams and fell to the Tennessee Heat 56-32.
Trenton Hayes was the lone Warrior in double figures with 10 points.
HCA (1-12) will conclude play in the tourney Saturday.
