After failing to score in 80-plus minutes against Lyon County in an overtime loss earlier in the week, Trigg County made sure there was no such drama Saturday.
Will Jolly scored four minutes into the contest and later added a penalty kick to give the Wildcats a 2-0 win Saturday in Eddyville.
Jolly’s first goal came off a cross from Anthony Ethridge in front. His shot hit the crossbar and came down just over the goal line to give the Wildcats a quick lead.
In the 23rd minute, Nik Kaster was fouled in the box which allowed Jolly to bang home the PK for his seventh goal of the season.
Just like Tuesday’s game in Cadiz, good looks and shots were tough to come by. Both teams had nine shots Saturday. Trigg’s Joseph Crawford made four saves in goal, while Cole Schroeder had six for the Lyons.
Trigg County [3-3-1] will play at Hopkinsville Monday, while Lyon County [2-4] will host Mayfield.
