Two-time KHSAA state champion Jay Nimmo has been named the Region 1 golfer of the year, highlighting the eight-player All-Region Team named by the Kentucky Golf Coaches Association.
Nimmo, who will play his college golf at Mississippi State, won both the region and state title for the second straight year.
His Marshall County teammates Camdyn McLeod and Trey Wall joined him on the All-Region Team along with Peyton Purvis and Rocco Zakutney of St. Mary; Hunter Reynolds of Trigg County; Garrett Rikel of McCracken County; and Kobe Allen of Graves County.
Keith Bell of Marshall County was named the region coach of the year.
The awards are voted on by member coaches in their own region. The Region Player of the Year is chosen by coaches votes from among the top three players in the region based on the All-State points list from the conclusion of the season.
The Region Coach of the Year is chosen from among all member coaches for that season.
