Hopkinsville’s James Folz is among the boys’ 2nd Region golfers to be recognized by a statewide youth golf association for their performance on the course this season. The Bluegrass Golf Foundation Tuesday morning announced the selection of 112 boys and girls golfers across the state as Bluegrass Golf All-Stars, with an additional 67 players recognized as Honorable Mentions.
Results from events are used to determine Bluegrass Golf All-Stars and Honorable Mentions.
Folz was one of three male golfers from the 2nd Region to be recognized as Honorable Mention. Folz, who recently tied for 8th at the PGA Kentucky Junior Tour Lou Perry Championship, has committed to play golf at the next level for Centre College.
The ranking system used in the selections combines points earned in the best five (5) high school regular season events, Regional Tournament, and State Tournament. Bonus points are awarded for all players with a score of -3 or better as well as players with scores between -2 and +1.
Each of the All-Stars will receive a membership with the Bluegrass Golf Tour and an invitation to compete in the Cullan Brown Invitational which helps support the Cullan Brown Memorial West Kentucky Junior Golf Development Fund.
