Another week of high school hoops, and another week that sees the Henderson County Lady Colonels holding down the top spot in the YSE Girls’ 2nd Region Basketball “Super 7.” The questions looming are can the Lady Colonels of the north contend statewide, and can Webster County, or any other team in the region prevent Henderson County for rolling up to Rupp Arena for this year’s Sweet 16.

– Henderson County (8-3) – The northern Lady Colonels dropped a pair of games, but let’s qualify that. One point losses to Owensboro Catholic and Marshall County do not in any fashion remove Henderson County from the regional favorite’s position.

– Webster County (6-8) – The Lady Trojans continue to look like the team with the best chance at this point to prevent a Henderson coronation in the 2nd Region tournament. A very intriguing matchup with O-Cath ahead on March 8.

– Union County (7-5) – The Bravettes complete the 6th District run at the top of the 2nd Region. They are on a three game winning streak, including a win on the road at Christian County. Their problem in the post season is they are in the same district as Henderson and Webster.

– Crittenden County (11-3) – The Lady Rockets took down Lyon County for the third time this season, and, with their win over Murray, are a home court win against Hancock County away from the Final Four of the All A Classic.

– Lyon County (11-5) – The Lady Lyons had been on a six game winning streak until Crittenden County took them down for the third time this season. Could they meet a 4th time in the 5th District tournament. Winnable games the rest of the way out in the regular season.

– Christian County (5-5) – The Lady Colonels are on a three game skid following losses to Union County and Greenwood. Consistent offense is one of the big challenges for this group at the moment.

– Trigg County (8-7) – The Lady Wildcats must feel a little bit like Union County. A solid team, that is looking for a way to get through one of the two teams in front of them in their own district. A big run of games coming up against McCracken, Union, and Lyon.
