Evelyn Morales was in fourth place heading into the homestretch of the state meet 300-hurdles event in a rainstorm in 2019 and clipped the hurdle. Despite falling to the ground, Morales got back up and finished seventh to reach the medal stand.
After her 2020 season was taken away due to a pandemic, the University Heights Academy senior is using the memory of that fall to motivate her in 2021. Morales will compete in both hurdle events and be a part of two relay teams for the Lady Blazers this year. She is hoping this weekend’s State Indoor Games provides the spark for the start of the spring season.
