Errors Trip Lyons in 7-4 Loss at Bowling Green

Lyon County dropped its second-straight road outing on Thursday at Bowling Green, with errors plaguing the Lyons in a 7-4 loss to the Purples.

The Lyons took a 2nd-inning lead after Aidan Rush and Corey Cissell opened the frame with back-to-back doubles.  Christian O’Daniel reached on a single, followed by an RBI double by Austin Long.

The Purples answered with 4 runs in the bottom of the inning, with Trent Warden, Brady Key, and Eli Burwash each picking up an RBI.

Lyon County responded in the 4th with RBI by Eli Baker and Brady Darnall to get within a run at 5-4.  But Key relieved Burwash on the mound for the Purples to start the 6th, striking out four of the 7 batters he faced to close out the game.

Shoulders took the loss for the Lyons, allowing 5 runs, 4 earned, on 7 hits with a walk and a strikeout.  Gunnar Bingham worked the final three frames, yielding 2 runs, 1 earned, on 4 hits with a walk and 3 strikeouts.

Rush and O’Daniel each had a couple of hits, with Cissell, Long, Baker, and Darnall driving in runs.

Burwash got the win for the Purples, lasting five innings and surrendering 4 runs, 2 earned, on 7 hits with a pair of walks and 7 strikeouts.

The Lyons will play the 3rd of an 8-game stretch on the road when they face 5th-District foe Crittenden County on Friday.  Lyon County topped the Rockets 8-4 in the season-opener in Eddyville.
