Caldwell County’s guys have just two team losses on the tennis court this season — and they’ve both come to Madisonville-North Hopkins.

The Maroons bested the Tigers 6-3 Friday in Princeton, taking several close contests to sweep the regular-season meetings. Earlier this season, Madisonville won 5-4 in an equally tight match on the Maroons’ home courts.

Caldwell did take two of the three doubles matches on Friday, but the Tigers managed just one win in six singles matchups.

No. 2-seed Ryan Hammett defeated Madisonville’s Nathaniel Crick 8-3.

However, the Maroons’ Josh Plain took the match between the top-seeded players, edging Caldwell’s Jordan Hammett 7-5, 6-7, 10-8.

Madisonville claimed the other four singles matches, with Tony Popescu nipping Billy Wallace 9-7, Aiden Brummer getting Nick Adams 8-4, Tate Young topping Grayden Miller 8-4 and Kael Knight slipping past Bryce Thompson 8-6.

In doubles, the Hammetts rolled past Popescu and Brummer 6-0, 6-1 while Miller and Thompson turned back Eli Dunn and Braeden Bell 8-3.

Madisonville claimed the other doubles match 8-1 with Young and Knight beating Wallace and Adams.

Caldwell’s guys are 13-2 in team matches this season.
