With Trigg County off to an 0-2-1 on the soccer pitch, Josh Nichols knows that record is likely to turn around once his squad is at full strength.

After graduating the team’s top three scorers from last season’s 6-5-3 team, offensive execution will be at a premium for the Wildcats in 2021.  One goal in three games seems to back up that observation.

Senior Keller Nichols scored three goals for the Wildcats last year and is the only returning scorer from last year.  The Wildcats will see Daniel Jimenez and Timmy Mendez provide some punch upfront.

Trigg will have several new faces on the defensive end.  They suffered a blow when junior Dominik Lee broke his arm at the Bluegrass State Games. They hope to have him back by the season’s end.

Junior Nik Kaster has provided leadership on the defense along with several other players who have improved since early summer.

Nichols said the pieces are in place to string together some wins and repeat as district champions. Trigg County will also compete in the Class 2A Championships for the first time in 2021. They will play Webster County on Sept. 7.
