Despite a win already on their schedule, albeit of the COVID variety, the Hopkinsville girls’ soccer team took the field for the first time in the regular season on Monday, falling 3-2 to hosts Hopkins County Central.
The Lady Tigers took full advantage of set-piece opportunities against the Lady Storm, with both goals coming off of corner kicks. Abby Moss collected both assists on finishes by Morgan Woosley and Anna Hernandez.
Vy Nguyen took the loss in goal after making eight saves.
Hopkins Central got a first-half goal from Elissa Adams off an assist by Lillie Melton and another in the second half on a Hopkinsville own goal. Adams added her second off the game off a pass from Priya Holmes for the winner.
Goalkeeper Kire Peyton made eleven saves to earn the win.
The Lady Storm snap a two-game skid to improve to 3-3 ahead of a trip to face Madisonville-North Hopkins on Thursday.
Hopkinsville hits the road to Elkton on Thursday to meet Todd County Central.
