The biggest question for Trigg County after their opening week loss to Todd County Central was its defense.
There were no such questions on Friday as the Wildcats beat Warren Central 36-6 to give Chris Ezell his first win as Wildcat head coach. Trigg County held the Dragons to minus-31 rushing yards and 75 total yards in the contest.
Meanwhile, the Wildcat ground game rolled up 243 yards with four rushing touchdowns. Trigg County’s first score came on a 10-play drive – all runs — and was finished off by a three-yard sneak by quarterback Jacob Wease with 4:55 to go in the opening quarter.
Trigg county did not have a kicker Friday night and went for two points on all five of their scores. Kendric Adams added a 7-yard touchdown run with 8:48 to go in the first half. Kelsey Parham scored on a conversion run to put the Wildcats ahead 14-0. Adams would catch a 12-yard pass from Wease with 1:09 to go before halftime. Dillion Skinner added a conversion catch to give the Wildcats a 22-0 lead.
Trigg County outgained the Dragons 186-38 in the first half. Parham scored the first of his two touchdowns with 7:14 left in the third quarter. He scored from 3 yards out on a 4th down play to put the Wildcats ahead 28-0. His second touchdown run was a 25-yard scamper with 8:13 to play.
Warren Central’s only score came in the third quarter when KeioVon Wells ran it in from a yard out.
Adams led the Trigg County ground game with 127 yards on 13 carries. Parham added 96 yards on 13 carries as the Wildcats ran up 243 yards.
Wease was 5-of-14 passing for 63 yards. Warren Central had just 75 total yards in the game.
The game was sloppy at times with 20 penalty flags for 175 yards between the teams. Trigg was flagged 11 times for 110 yards.
Trigg’s win comes a week after giving up over 400 yards in a 56-28 loss to Todd County Central.
Trigg County moves to 2-0 all-time against Warren Central and to 1-1 on the season.
The loss by Warren Central is their 53rd consecutive setback dating back to the 2015 season.
Trigg County will be on the road next week to face the Murray Tigers, who defeated Calloway County 33-27 Friday night.
