Christian County All-State basketball player Detorrion Ware will join a former Colonel teammate at Jacksonville State University. A member of the CCHS coaching staff confirmed to YourSportsEdge.com that Ware committed to the OVC school Wednesday after he visited the campus over the weekend.

Ware leaves Christian County as the school’s all-time leading scorer with 2,341 points and was named Second Team All-State by both the Louisville Courier Journal and Lexington Herald-Leader after averaging 31.9 points and 9.1 rebounds. He shot 52-percent from the field and 36-percent from 3-point range.

St. Louis and SEMO had also shown interest in Ware, with St. Louis Coach Travis Ford joining Jacksonville State Coach Ray Harper in watching Ware play in the Second Region championship game.

Ware will join former Christian County Colonel teammate Tyrik Edwards at Jacksonville State. Edwards just completed his sophomore season with the Gamecocks.  Former UHA assistant coach and Hopkinsville native Tommy Wade is on Harper’s staff at Jacksonville State.
