After winning her first match of the day at the girls state tennis tournament, Caldwell County’s Belle Englebright ran into the toughest competition she had faced all season. After losing only one game all season, Englebright was eliminated in the 2nd round of the state tournament by Henry Clay’s Katie Robeson Thursday afternoon.
Robeson, who is the #9 seed in the tournament defeated Englebright in straight sets 6-0, 6-2 to advance to the round of 16. It was the first match loss of the season for Englebright. Robeson played strong deep shots and served strong to pick up the win.
Englebright had advanced to the second round with a 6-0, 6-0 win over Hopkinsville’s Riley Fort earlier in the day Thursday.
